Wouldn’t it be nice to have extra money every month?
In this post I want to share with you how to make an extra $1,000 every month on the side.
I’m so grateful I make extra money every month from blogging, and I know you would probably be happier with an extra $1,000+ every month, too.
So, here’s a look at how you can get started making an extra $1,000 every month.
1. Start a blog
You can make an extra $1,000 every month from blogging. Starting a blog takes time in the beginning to build momentum, but you can grow your blog to make much more than just $1,000 / month.
If you want to make $1,000 blogging, I recommend you:
- Start a blog
- Learn how to turn your blog into a business (and how you can actually make money from blogging)
- Give yourself time and don’t give up
There are lots of ways to make money blogging — heres a list of six ways you can make money blogging).
I started blogging to talk about finance and intentional living (specifically because of my career path and student loans). I began to treat my blog like a business.
Blogging is amazing because it allows you to pursue your passion and make money doing it.
So, if you want to start making money on the side, then I recommend starting a blog (like I did). For all of my blogging posts, visit my Blogging Page.
2. Write for online publications
Freelance writing is another great way to make money online. You can write about anything from home and get paid to do it. Freelance writing means that you are writing for other online publications. Freelance writing offers ultimate job flexibility and allows you to be super creative with your work. This side hustle can pay big bucks, too (think $100 to $500+ PER post).
If you want to make $1,000/month freelance writing, I recommend you read my post: How to Become a Freelance Writer.
I didn’t have any experience freelance writing two years ago and now I have clients that I write for on a consistent basis (and I’m paid well!). This is also a great way to hone your writing skills and turn your writing into a side business.
Anyone can become a freelance writer, and you can, in fact, make over $1,000/month just from freelance writing alone. So if you want to make money online from home, I think this is one of the fastest ways to do it!
3. Babysit, pet sit, or house sit
Babysitting, pet sitting, or house sitting are all great ways to make money on the side. If you needed money yesterday (as in ASAP), then these are really good side hustles to make money fast.
You can start making $1,000/month by babysitting almost immediately if you can do it full time (or close to it). You can get on Sittercity.com and find lots of babysitting gigs in your area today. It doesn’t cost anything for babysitters to sign up and it’s very user friendly. I used to get tons of babysitting jobs through Sittercity. It’s a really awesome resource for connecting babysitters with families. Like anything online, be safe when you use it!
4. Open an Etsy Shop
Etsy is the hub of selling arts and crafts online. It’s a great place to throw up a store fast and start selling. If you make jewelry, clothes, signs, anything – Etsy is a really great place to launch a small shop. If you go this route, I recommend reading posts about selling on Etsy before you get started. There are lots of tips and tricks to make your store more successful (for example, the more products you put up over time, the better).
You can make a lot of money selling things you make on Etsy. I used to sell jewelry on Etsy and know that it’s possible to make $1,000+/month this way.
5. Teach kids your skills
If you have any skills that kids need to learn, there’s a good chance you can teach them how to do it. You can tutor in person or online these days. Think: school subjects like math and science, music lessons, cooking, programming, or fitness. Think outside the box. If you used to be in sports, there’s a good chance you can coach kids on a team or give them individual lessons.
Parents pay big bucks to help their kids get better at pretty much anything.
If there’s something that you can teach kids, you can make over $1,000/month doing it. You could be the person they need to achieve this. It’s a win-win.
6. Become a virtual assistant or social media manager
You can work as a virtual assistant (VA) or social media manager from home and make good money on the side. These are two different jobs, but they’re similar in that they both require you to assist someone else’s online business. As a VA, you can do a number of tasks to help whoever you’re working for. As a social media manager, you will just help with managing social media.
If you don’t have any experience with social media or online tasks, then a VA is a better fit. You can learn how to become a VA in Your Way To VA. A lot of bloggers take on VA work to make money on the side, and a lot of bloggers need a good VA. There’s definitely a market for you to make money this way. It’s basically being a personal assistant to someone’s online business.
If you’re good with Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter, you can probably find work as a social media manager, even if it’s small scale. You’ll basically be helping online businesses post more frequently and respond to messages and comments. This can be a full-time job for experienced people, but you can also find work on the side. I’ve been approached several times and asked to manage people’s Pinterest accounts. I just don’t have the time!
A Final Note!
